Job Description

Workshop Recruitment are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Carpenter with a can-do attitude and a flexible approach. You must have relevant qualifications and broad commercial and domestic experience in your core trade.

In this role you will carry out a wide variety of carpentry repairs in occupied student accommodation, buildings, and empty rooms. Tasks will include fitting various door types (including fire doors), first and second fixing carpentry, kitchen installations, ceramic wall tiling, carpet tiling, minor decorative works, and minor glazing tasks.

 Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and rectify faults related to core and other trades-based repair requests.
  • Ensure all work meets the highest possible standards by always maintaining quality.
  • Support other trades to deliver a professional, safe, and efficient maintenance and repair service.
  • Respond swiftly to emergency situations and resolve them efficiently.
  • Keep clients and the office updated on the progress of work and plans.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards by applying risk assessments, and using the correct PPE when required.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe, clean, and workable conditions.
  • Accurately record work completed, including photographic evidence when necessary.
  • Be willing to work out of hours as needed and participate in the call-out rota.

Skills

  • Able to use the phone or PDA to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly and concisely.
  • Be comfortable in dealing with residents and members of the public.
  • Have an organised approach.
  • Be able to self-manage and be self-motivated, prioritizing and programming work in the most efficient manner.

Qualification Required

  • NVQ level 2-3 in Carpentry or equivalent.


Experience Required

  • 2-5 years of working in Building Maintenance and Education environments.
