Job Description

Workshop Recruitment is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join a well-established, family-run business operating across the South of England. This Twilight Shift role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive team maintaining a fleet of commercial vehicles and equipment to the highest safety and compliance standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified HGV Mechanic looking for long-term stability, training opportunities, and a strong team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out vehicle servicing, repairs, and inspections to manufacturer and DVSA standards
  • Diagnose faults across mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and maintain high pass rates
  • Complete job cards and time recording accurately
  • Support planned maintenance schedules across the fleet
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and cost-effectively
  • Travel between sites when required
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety

Skills & Experience Required

  • Recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle or plant engineering
  • Experience working as an HGV Mechanic or similar role
  • Strong understanding of pneumatic braking systems
  • Confident carrying out electrical fault finding and repairs
  • Ability to inspect vehicles to MOT standards
  • Good organisation and communication skills
  • Flexible attitude with willingness to learn new skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence required
